FAQs
Making a Booking
What injuries do you treat? How do I know you can fix my injury?
At Excel Therapy we treat all muscles and joint injuries, from the neck right down to the toes and everything in between. You can see more information here.
If you have an existing condition or want more information about how we can help, please get in touch. We are always happy to discuss whether treatment will be suitable for you.
Do I need a referral from my GP?
No. Simply give us a call or book an appointment online. If after your initial consultation we feel you may not be suitable for treatment with us and require a different service, we may refer you back to the GP with our findings and recommendations.
How long will I have to wait for an appointment?
We aim to see patients a week to 10 days after a booking is confirmed. However, during peak times the wait might be slightly longer for new patients requiring an initial consultation.
Can I book an emergency appointment?
No. We don’t have time allocated for emergency appointments, but we aim to see patients as quickly as possible.
Can I book a one-off appointment?
Yes. We regularly see patients who need one-off appointments to help facilitate daily activities. However, we may not be able to deliver the outcomes you require in a single session. In the appointment, we’ll give you as much information as possible and advise you if further treatment is needed.
How many sessions are standard for treatment?
During the first appointment, we’ll focus on what you want to achieve through treatment at Excel Therapy. We aim to see results within six appointments, although this can vary depending on the severity of your condition. Our goal is to help you perform at your best and we’ll always aim to resolve your issue in the fastest time possible. Our team will monitor your progress and set goals for improvement with you.
Can I bring a friend or chaperone?
Yes, you entitled to bring someone with you to your appointment for any reason.
Appointments
What should I wear to my appointment?
We recommend wearing comfortable clothing suited for the gym or light activity. We know this isn’t always possible and can usually work around your needs.
Please be aware you may be asked to move or remove some items of clothing so we can provide effective treatment.
Do I need to do anything before my appointment or bring anything with me?
No. But if you’ve had treatment for the same condition at another clinic or have previous information, such as test results, this may help your practitioner.
What can I expect from my first appointment?
Your first appointment will always involve a discussion about what’s brought you to Excel Therapy and a breakdown of your symptoms or what you are feeling. There may also be a short medical screen. Your practitioner will examine your body to help find the nature of your pain, discomfort, restrictions or weaknesses. They’ll then explain their findings, any diagnosis and explain how the treatment will proceed.
How long do appointments take?
Initial consultations will last up to 60 minutes, whilst any follow-up appointments will be 30 minutes.
Sports massage appointments can be for 60 minutes or 30 minutes.
